Pax Draconis Setting Overview
Here you can find answers to
many common questions about
the fictional universe of Pax Draconis
Q: How can I get involved?:
Obviously, the best way to start getting involved is to play! Some people resist learning new systems, but Pax Draconis was designed to be easy to learn. If you don't have a group of friends who play already, try looking around at local game stores, universities or clubs.
We also like to hear from people who own the game. Use the forums to let us know about yourself and keep us updated on your campaigns. There are also online games available most of the time.
If you want to take things a step further, read through the following questions.
Q: Do you need playtesters?
Yes we do, particularly players from outside the US. We prefer that playtesters have experience with the game (a few months' worth of playing it would be plenty) and that they have a steady group willing to commit to testing. We do playtesting for products currently in developlment, and as part of an on-going effort to perfect the Pax Draconis game system.
For more information, contact Sally Dagna with a description of yourself, your group and your main interests.
Q: Is there a demo team or program?
We're just getting a formal demonstration team going, and are looking for people who would like to run Pax Draconis demonstrations and events at game stores, gaming clubs and conventions in their local areas. We intend the final program to be flexible so that you can put as much or as little effort as you'd like into, and rewarding.
There's also an affiliate program you can join to sell Pax Draconis through your web site for a 25% commission. We're very excited about this program, which is much more flexible and profitable than most similar programs. Double your rewards by taking payment in the form of Pax Draconis products, and you can earn commissions on sales you make to yourself, so that you can buy in advance and sell in person.
More information will be posted soon. In the meantime, contact Sally Dagna and we'll make sure you're notified when details are available.
Q: Do you need artwork or writing?
Our needs vary based on current projects. However, there are still supplements in development that need more artwork, both greyscale interior work and full-color cover pieces. Contact Sally Dagna, our art director and include any portfolio information you have available.
We do need writers as well, but we're looking more for submissions on new projects. The projects in development have had most of the basic writing done by Justin Dagna already and are just going through layout, proofing/editing and playtesting.
What we need are people with ideas for new products: supplements, campaigns or even new games. If you have ideas like these, please send a proposal to Justin Dagna – and only a proposal! If we like the idea and it doesn't overlap with any existing projects, we'll ask you for the full manuscript (or we'll talk about a schedule for submitting the final manuscript). We're eager to work with both new and established writers!
Q: How else can I help?
There are many other ways to get involved and help Pax Draconis out.
Talk to Game Stores: We can't stress enough how important it is that game stores know about Pax Draconis. Stores want to see players before they order from distributors. Distributors want orders from stores before they buy from us. And once a distributor carries the product, it finds it's way into more stores. Most stores will do special orders even if they don't stock us regularly.
Submit Your Stuff: Our Players' Resources section is full of things submitted by fans – people who made custom character sheets, wrote about their favorite planet or made pictures.
Tell Others: In the RPG biz, word of mouth counts for more than any other kind of advertising. Besides just telling people you know, consider putting links up to our website (there's even a banner), submitting reviews to role-playing web sites or forums, and running Pax Draconis at your favorite convention. If you send us your thoughts, we'll not only appreciate it, but we may add it to our own comments page.
